Debunking Potent Pot Myths

Info

One of the tools in the prohibitionist belt is fear mongering about how potent the new marijuana is.
It’s not the marijuana of old.
Prohibitionists argue.
This new marijuana is super potent compared to hippie grass smoked at Woodstock.
More potent than doobies inhaled during the heydays of disco.
Research prohibitionist claim shows marijuana has more THC than ever before.
Failing to mention that testing for THC levels has greatly improved in the last thirty years.
This anti marijuana marketing platform is geared to convince former cannabis loving parents to be strict with their children.
The prohibitionists’ marketing plan recognizes the number of people who have inhaled is overwhelming.
Is marijuana more potent these days?
Possibly.
Bud these days aren’t packed with marijuana seeds.
Back in the hippie days marijuana growers didn’t remove male cannabis plants.
Obviously the males pollinated the female plants.
Hippies used their vinyl record albums to sift seeds from their weed.
It wasn’t until the disco era that marijuana growing became a serious past time in the US. Marijuana growers began pulling the males, seeking out awesome strains and developing techniques.
With a focus mostly on indica, for its fast flowering and short squat properties, sativa marijuana strains began to be grown less.
Amsterdam marijuana breeders catering to American cannabis consumers bred more indica strains.
Commercially available cannabis became more indica and less sativa.
The widely available marijuana high went from spacey trippy to downward couch locking.
So if someone hasn’t inhaled weed in 20 years then the marijuana of today is probably much more potent.
Or very different.
