Cannabis collective Toronto Hash Mob is celebrating 420 by peacefully demonstrating against marijuana prohibition by puffing pot Tuesday, Apr. 20, from 2:00 – 4:20 p.m. at Yonge and Dundas Square.

Social media savy pot pranksters Toronto Hash Mob are employing flash mob techniques to encourage people to smoke weed with them at Yonge and Dundas Square. Smoking weed at 4:20 p.m. on 4/20 clearly qualifies as a flash mob activity.

This is their fourth year protesting pot prohibition by openly defying it. Coming at time when Stephen Harper’s Conservative government is attempting to pass failed American style drug laws. Laws that will put more peaceful potheads in prison.

Toronto Hash Mob anticipates between 1,000 to 2,000 pothead protesters will spontaneously attend. Opting to break the law by puffing pot proudly in the Times Square of Canada. Currently their FaceBook event pages has 1,200 confirmed attendees. And in typical stoner style they only launched it a few weeks ago.

They anticipate by 4:20 p.m. a large gathering of marijuana enthusiasts peacefully puffing cannabis at Yonge and Dundas Square. Management have agreed to leave the tables out. These great rolling surfaces will go fast, so arrive early. There’s no permit. Thus no stage. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bongs, buds and personal entertainment.

This year protest is reminder Toronto Police Service still bust compassion clubs such Cannabis As Living Medicine (CALM) and a memorial for marijuana legalization activist Jack Herer. Who died without seeing marijuana legalized in his lifetime.

Toronto Hash Mob hope next year they will be issued a permit not to hold an anti prohibition protest flash mob but to celebrate cannabis being legalized.
