Speaking of opportunity. It’s deeply upsetting DEA were given an opportunity to speak with Health Canada about our medicinal marijuana program while doctors and patients have been shut out.
Lawyer Paul Lewin and myself came across DEA documents months ago in my court case. It stops you in your tracks when you read about international obligations  interfering with Canada’s cannabis laws. Now we’re playing with power!
One point that needs to be made perfectly clear.
Canada notified UN about our legal med pot program.
We informed the International Narcotics Control Board we’re in violation of the 1961 treaty. Of course UN is going to rebuke us.
I also doubt DEA went to Health Canada on their own.
Deep integration between Canadian and American law enforcement most likely had Canada’s top cops encourage DEA agents to address the issue. Their sentiments are exactly those expressed by RCMP.
The story requires proper journalism investigation. Possibly a parliamentary question. A foreign government agency is (invited?) to discuss a legally run Canadian program. Yet, Canadian doctors and patients haven’t been given the same opportunity.
